This Saturday, September 10th the cross country team heads to the Clemson Sandhills Research Center in Columbia, SC for the South Carolina Coaches Classic Invitational. Sandhills is the same course the team will be competing on in late October and November for the State Qualifier and State Championship meets.

The boys come off a season opening win last weekend at the Palmetto State Festival. The boys were led by Jake Mueller (16:51) who finished over a minute ahead of the rest of the field including teammate Zack Kochert (18:09) who finished in second. Spencer finished fourth in the race. Hayden Tuten (7th, 18:26) and Silas Arendash (13th, 19:08) rounded out the point scorers. The boys will be headed into the elite International division of the race and look to have tough competition from several ranked teams including region schools Lexington and Dutch Fork.

The boys JV will be split into two groups, 7th-9th grade and 10th-12th grade. Rookies Daniel Gillespie (9th) and Matthew Thiret (7th) will lead the young JV boys in the late morning. Veteran Vihar Dalal (12th) and Rookie Adam DiMaggio (11th) will take lead the upperclassman JV boys on the familiar course.

Hall sat in the top two positions the majority of the race eventually ending in 3rd with a career best of 21:14 for 5K. Joey Palmquist (23:04) nudged out teammate Katie Weber(23:05) at the line to take 11th and 12th . Palmquist had a major career best to start off her season.
