Irmo Yellow Jackets 2017 Varsity defeated Aiken 6-5 in a back-and-forth affair on Saturday, March 4th. The game was tied at four with Irmo batting in the top of the sixth when Mason Lassiter hit a sacrifice fly to drive in a run.
Aiken captured the lead in the second inning scoring two runs, one run when Herring doubled with one out.
Irmo scored three runs in the third inning. The big inning was thanks to a single by Nolan Burdette, an error, and a single by C.J. Shiver.
In the top of the fifth inning, the Yellow Jackets tied things up at four. Irmo scored on a stolen base during Jamie Karl‘s at bat. Then Karl singled.
Cam Felkel earned the win for Irmo. He pitched two innings, surrendering one run, three hits, striking out one, and walking zero. Isaiah Canty recorded the last out to earn the save for Irmo.  Aaron White started the game. He tossed three innings, allowing three runs, four hits, and walking one.  
Yellow Jackets collected 12 hits.  Mason Lassiter, Karl, Burdette, and Luke Winslow each collected multiple hits for Irmo.   Burdette, Karl, Lassiter, Canty, and Shiver each drove in one run to lead Irmo.
Aiken had nine hits in the game. Dupert, Carver, and Herring each collected multiple hits for Aiken.
